About the Role
Reporting to the Residential Manager at Thomas Street Lodge Parramatta, you will ensure that maintenance and gardening duties are completed on time and to a high standard by completing tasks as directed . A typical day may include such tasks as changing light globes, hanging artwork, setting up furniture for events and activities, grounds maintenance and assembling furniture.
Key Responsibilities (not limited to):
•Ensuring that maintenance duties are completed in a safe, efficient and effective way by following specified policies and procedures with special attention to all aspects of safety. These may include carpentry works, door and lock repairs, painting, concreting, minor roofing, gutter cleaning, sweeping, adjusting, minor alterations and handyman duties, appliance fault finding, carpet repairs, joinery repairs, plumbing repairs
•Ensuring that grounds and gardens are maintained to a high standard by, weeding, watering, pruning, mulching, fertilising, garden renovation, assist with tree care, laying of turf, cleaning drains, spraying of herbicides and pesticides, removal of rubbish from gardens, care for indoor plants, installing basic watering systems, minor landscaping projects
•Anticipating, arranging and carrying out repairs, maintaining buildings and grounds, and advising the Residential / Building Manager on replacement or repairs as required
•Ensuring information is properly recorded by maintaining appropriate documentation and records
•Contributing to the support of residents by providing appropriate assistance and quality service as required, and with respect to dignity and privacy
•Contributing to the safety culture by keeping the workplace clean and tidy, reporting any incidents or hazards and ensuring all equipment remains in a safe working order, with tools cleaned and properly maintained.
Skills, knowledge and experience needed
• Appropriate certificate in Gardening, Maintenance, or related discipline is preferred, but at a minimum a basic knowledge of gardening, maintenance and plant material.
• Current NSW driver’s licence

• Passion for assisting the elderly and working in Aged Care.
