Tamworth Correctional Centre, with the support of Anglicare's Justice Chaplaincy Program, is seeking to employ a caring and Christ centred Justice Chaplain competent in pastoral ministry and compelled to make a difference in the lives of our men.
The Tamworth Correctional Centre - Chaplaincy:
Tamworth Correctional Centre is a medium security facility for male's and is located in the Northern Tablelands, 397km north of Sydney.
This extremely rewarding position provides an opportunity to offer emotional and pastoral support to prison inmates of all backgrounds and beliefs, as well as prison staff and the family and friends of prison inmates.
About the role:
Anglicare has an amazing opportunity for a dedicated and servant hearted Chaplain to join our team. In this role you will have the opportunity to communicate the Christian message clearly through conversations, bible studies and chapel services. You will build supportive relationships with staff and be encouraged to foster relationships with our local churches and Christian ministry organisations.
This role is a part-time, 2.5 days per week, 19 hours per week, days can be flexible.
This position will suit a compassionate and resilient person who has significant pastoral experience and suited to working in a Correctional Centre environment. You will ideally be a highly motivated and caring person, experienced in pastoral ministry (ideally in a Justice context), or be keen to develop an ability to minister to men in prison.
- Completed theological studies (Degree or Diploma course)
- Eligible to hold a license issued by the Anglican Archbishop of the Sydney Diocese encouraged
- Empathetic, non-judgmental and caring pastoral skills
- Ability to clearly communicate and teach the Bible
- Completed APC or CPE course (required to be completed in the first 12 months of employment if not yet completed)
- Proven experience in ministry and compassionate pastoral care
- Strong communication and relationship building skills
You must be able to pass all Corrective services security checks and meet the requirements to be licensed by the Archbishop for ministry in the Diocese of Sydney.
